Electricians Who Understand Dobroyd Point Homes
Dobroyd Point sits on the southern edge of Iron Cove, inside the Haberfield heritage conservation area. Most homes we work on here are Federation houses and Californian bungalows built more than 100 years ago, with double-brick walls, high ceilings and leadlight windows. Heritage rules limit what can change on the outside, so meter boxes, outdoor lights and other external fittings need careful placement. Inside, we run new cabling through roof spaces and under suspended timber floors, which means less damage to original plaster and brickwork. That’s the kind of care you want from an electrician Dobroyd Point owners trust with their heritage homes.
Our team of electricians from the Inner West works out of Rozelle, so getting to you is easy. We head west along the City West Link through Lilyfield, cross the Hawthorne Canal and we’re on Dobroyd Parade in about 15 minutes, traffic permitting.
Electrical Services for Dobroyd Point Homes
The four jobs below make up most of our work in Dobroyd Point. Have a different problem? Call us and we can talk it through.

Lighting Installation for High, Ornate Ceilings
Lighting upgrades are one of the most common jobs in Dobroyd Point, where many ceilings sit over 3 metres high with plaster roses and decorative cornices. These jobs usually involve adding pendants, wall lights or dimmable LEDs while keeping the original ceiling features intact.

Home Appliance Installations
Kitchen and living upgrades in local Dobroyd Point homes often call for new ovens, induction cooktops, rangehoods and split-system air conditioners. Each one is typically installed on its own circuit, after a quick check that the switchboard can handle the extra load.

Electrical Faults and Rewiring
Flickering lights, warm switches and safety switches that keep tripping are common in Dobroyd Point’s older homes, often caused by rubber-insulated wiring that has broken down with age. Once the fault is traced, the fix ranges from replacing a single circuit to a full home rewire.

Extra Power Points Where You Need Them
Homes built in the early 1900s were mostly wired for lighting, so a lack of power points is a regular issue here. Adding double outlets, USB points and weatherproof outdoor points is a popular way to cut down on powerboards and extension leads.
How Booking Works
Booking with us is simple, and there’s no need to download an app or set up an account. Just give us a call or send a message, and the owner will ring you back to hear what’s happening and explain your options in everyday language.

Things You Might Not Know About Dobroyd Point
A Wedding Gift of Land
Merchant Simeon Lord named the area the Dobroyde Estate. In 1825 he gave it to his daughter Sarah Ann and her husband David Ramsay as a wedding present.
A House Name Spelt Backwards
The Ramsay family built a stone home on the estate around 1870 and called it Yasmar. It’s simply Ramsay written in reverse.
Slumless, Laneless and Publess
Developer Richard Stanton launched the Haberfield estate in 1901 as Australia’s first garden suburb. Every home had its own garden, and no pubs or back lanes were allowed.
A Royal Guest at Church
St David’s Church opened on the old Ramsay land in 1869. Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, attended the opening.
Protected Since 1979
The National Trust classified Haberfield, including Dobroyd Point, as a conservation area in 1979. The garden suburb celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2026.
Your Dobroyd Point Electrical Questions
Do I need council approval for electrical work on a heritage home?
Most indoor electrical work doesn’t need approval. Changes that affect the outside, like moving a meter box or adding solar panels, may need Inner West Council approval, and we’ll flag this before we start.
Will rewiring damage my ornate ceilings or leadlight windows?
Not if it’s done properly. We work through the roof space and under the floor wherever we can, and we cover delicate features before any work begins.
Can you help property managers with older rental homes?
Certainly. Our rental and strata electrical jobs service covers Dobroyd Point, and we’ll liaise with tenants to organise a suitable time.
Can you make my home safer for an elderly parent?
Yes, we can. Sensor lights in hallways, extra switches near the bed and interconnected smoke alarms all help reduce trips, falls and late-night worries.
